Program Objectives

Effective governance is a key driver of growth and an increasingly important competitive advantage for any organization. Consequently, the performance of the board of directors is critical to an organization’s success.

To ensure that a board serves as a strategic asset, it must have the right mix of skills and knowledge, along with the ability to function effectively as a team. The rapidly evolving business environment also requires boards to be agile and responsive to unexpected needs and challenges.

In general, effective board members possess skills and competencies distinct from other corporate roles, including management. This program provides a pathway to acquiring and mastering these skills.

The program enhances participants’ understanding of effective business decision-making, team dynamics, and the ability to make meaningful contributions to a board of directors.

The “Effective Corporate Governance and Leadership” program aims to train executives and professionals serving on boards—or those interested in joining one—in corporate governance, equipping them with the skills to manage unforeseen business risks and oversee their organization’s financial performance.

Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of corporate governance, including board responsibilities and modern challenges.

Specifically, after an introduction to governance models and principles, the program will extensively cover board member responsibilities, emphasizing the characteristics and role of an effective leader.

It will also analyze key accounting and financial principles to help participants monitor their organization’s financial health and actively participate in sound business decision-making.

Additionally, the program presents recent regulations, including Law 4706/2020 on corporate governance for public limited companies and Law 4518/2018, which reformed corporate law.
