Dr. Anastasios Pappas holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of the Aegean, awarded with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). He also earned a Master’s degree (MSc) in International Banking and Finance from the University of Southampton, UK, and a PhD in Macroeconomics from the Department of Business Administration at the University of the Aegean.
His doctoral research focused on macroeconomic equilibria and capital flows within the context of modern economic globalization.
Dr. Pappas has worked in both the private and public sectors in Greece, including consulting firms, financial institutions, and local government authorities.
Currently, he serves as a Special Scientist at the Hellenic Fiscal Council, where he leads the Research Department. His work involves monitoring the execution of the State Budget, analyzing and overseeing European fiscal rules, conducting economic research and macroeconomic/fiscal forecasting, and providing policy recommendations.
He has taught economics-related courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of the Aegean (Department of Business Administration and MBA Program) and at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Department of Economics, MSc in Political Economy, and MBA Program).
His research interests include macroeconomics, monetary and fiscal policy, economic forecasting, financial crises, and capital flows.
