Nikolaos Iriotis is a Professor of Accounting at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Dean of the School of Economics and Political Sciences since 2021, former Chair of the Department of Economics from 2014 to the present, and Director of the Laboratory of Accounting Education and Applications (EK.EF.LOG.) since 2013.

He holds a PhD from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, France. He is a member of the National Accounting Standardization and Auditing Committee (ELTE), which oversees regulatory frameworks, accounting and auditing standards, and compliance of statutory auditors (since November 2017).

He previously served as Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Health Quality and Technology Assessment (EKAPTY) (a body under the Ministry of Health) from 2014 to 2016.

Professor Iriotis has extensive experience as a consultant and expert for major organizations and enterprises, including the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, the Auxiliary Insurance Fund for Public Employees (TEADY), the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ethniki Insurance, and Ktimatologio S.A.

He has taught for over 10 years at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and for more than 20 years at NKUA. He is also a Coordinator and Tutor at the Hellenic Open University (HOU) for the postgraduate course “Banking Tools (TRA60)”.

Previously, he served as Director of the “MBA in Financial Management” at NKUA’s Department of Economics and Academic Director of the MBA and Banking postgraduate programs at the Open University of Cyprus. He has also coordinated multiple financial and accounting courses at HOU and Cyprus Open University.

Beyond academia, Professor Iriotis has delivered executive training seminars for leading organizations and financial institutions, including Alpha Bank, Hellenic Post (ELTA), EYDAP, the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE), the Greek Export Promotion Organization, AB Vassilopoulos, and Daniil E. & Co. S.A.

He has authored 12 books and 3 monographs, as well as over 60 articles published in internationally recognized academic journals. He has received the Best Paper Award three times from international scientific organizations and has presented numerous papers at global conferences.

His current research interests focus on financial statement analysis, financial accounting, and cost accounting.
