Nikolaos Iriotis is a Professor of Accounting at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and has served as the Dean of the School of Economic and Political Sciences since 2021.
He is a former Chair of the Department of Economics (2014-present) and has been the Director of the Laboratory of Education and Applications in Accounting (EK.EF.LOG.) since 2013.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, France.
Professor Iriotis is a member of the National Accounting Standards and Auditing Committee (ELTE), which oversees regulations, accounting and auditing standards, and compliance requirements for statutory auditors (November 2017-present). He previously served as Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Health Quality and Technology Assessment (EKAPTY) under the Greek Ministry of Health (2014-2016).
He has extensive experience as a consultant and expert advisor for major corporations and public organizations, including the Greek Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, the Supplementary Pension Fund for Public Sector Employees (TEADY), the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen, Ethniki Insurance, and the Hellenic Cadastre S.A.
He has taught for over 10 years at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and for more than 20 years at NKUA.
He is the Coordinator and Academic Supervisor for the “TRA60 – Banking Tools” module in the Master’s Program in Banking at the Hellenic Open University (HOU). He also served as Director of the Master’s Program in Business Economics (MBA) at NKUA’s Department of Economics, and Academic Director of both the MBA and the Master’s in Banking at the Open University of Cyprus. Additionally, he has been Coordinator and Academic Supervisor for the “Finance & Accounting” module in the MBA program and for the “Accounting” module in the Banking Master’s Program at the Open University of Cyprus.
He has delivered executive training seminars for organizations and banks, including Alpha Bank, Hellenic Post (ELTA), Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP), Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE), Export Promotion Organization, “Alpha-Beta” Vassilopoulos, and Daniil & Co. S.A.
He has authored 12 books and 3 monographs, along with over 60 articles in internationally recognized scientific journals. He has received the Best Paper Award three times from international academic organizations and has presented numerous research papers at global conferences.
His current research interests focus on financial statement analysis, financial accounting, and cost accounting.
